Published Cable and Individual Wire Breaking Strengths

The Camesa catalog shows both the breaking strength for the individual wires making up each different type of cable and the breaking strength of the cable as a-whole.  Both properties are important.  For instance, during field operations it's important to avoid line tensions exceeding 50% of the cable breaking strength to prevent permanent damage to the cable.  Regarding individual wire breaking strength, a common technique to create a "weak point" in the line is to use only a fraction of the total number of wires to connect the logging line to the cable head of the logging tool.  It is of course vital to have knowledge of the individual wire breaking strength in order to calculate the tension at which the logging tool will separate from the logging line.
